Welcome
President's Greeting
Welcome to the 2024-25 Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society Program! We are now in our 111th year, and we are looking forward to a great one.
Many thanks to Teri Wiseley, Joe Rosenblatt, and the rest of our Board members for their hard work and leadership last year. As we continued to emerge from the pandemic, last year was one of our best, with a tremendous program put together by Christina Gutowski. I continue to be humbled by the time and commitment of our Board members despite their busy practices and schedules, and I cannot express enough gratitude to the program directors and chairs of all six residency programs in the Philadelphia area for their support and encouraging their trainees to prioritize attendance at our meetings. We have an extraordinary situation here in Philly, and it’s thanks to all of you that we continue to grow.
I am extremely excited for our program this year. Michael Messina has put together a fantastic series of lectures, with topics that are both unique and poignant, to be given by some of the brightest leaders in our field. Please check the schedule to make sure you are up to date and able to attend. We continue to encourage attendees to spend some time connecting with each other as well as attending surgeons from the area during the cocktail hour prior to each lecture—it is this opportunity that truly sets our Society apart from any other in the country.
I would like to announce an exciting new venue for our program this year! We will be hosting the meeting from the exquisite Pyramid Club, located at 1735 Market Street, 52 floors above the bustling noise and traffic, with magnificent views of the City of Brotherly Love. We are very grateful for the hospitality shown to us by Rodeph Shalom Synagogue for the past two years, but we are hoping the new venue provides a bit of a fresh experience for our membership. Centrally located with abundant parking nearby, we will again be providing plenty of food and drink for all those in attendance.
We will continue to support and grow our presence on social media, and as has always been the case, members are encouraged to share good news, special interests and worthy community service information in our monthly newsletter. If you have anything you would like to have spotlighted in the newsletter, please send it along to Teri Wiseley: admin@phillyortho.org. Please include photos if you can!
Again, thank you all for continuing to make the Philadelphia Orthopaedic Society a wonderful place for all of us to engage in education and collegiality. I am proud to count each of you as friends and colleagues, and I look forward to a great year!
Most sincerely,
Eric Levicoff, MD
